Chassis:
One of the new works cars built for the 1983 season, chassis 956-007 was first raced at the Monza 1000 km where Derek Bell and Al Holbert finished 7th. For the Silverstone 1000 km, Bell was joined by Stefan Bellof and took the outright win. Bellof then used this car to clock the fastest ever lap time at the Nürburgring at 6:11 during the qualifying for the 1000 km race. The young German lead early on and at 6:25 had already set the fastest ever race lap before he crashed out. Some of the components of this car were used to rebuilt chassis 008, which was subsequently renumbered 007. The actual chassis 007 was sold to Al Holbert and used for show car duties. For many years, it was displayed in a North Carolina museum in the Miller colours of the 1989 Daytona 24 Hours winning 962. More recently, it has been completely restored to its Nürburgring configuration over a two-year period by Group C LTD.
