This one-off Alfa Romeo 1900C SS was presented at the 1955 Turin Motor Show by Gian Carlo Boano. It followed the similar Boano bodied 6C 3000 CM that was sold to Argentinian president Juan Peron. One of the most impressive features of the car is the two-piece rear window. Originally the car was finished in a two-tone paint-scheme with a yellow bottom half and a black roof but this was at some point changed to a single red. The original interior, still fitted with black leather seats and yellow piping, remains as a reminder of the original finish. For many years the unique Boano coupe was part of the startling Mario Righini Collection but it has changed hands recently as it appeared in the Netherlands in January of 2014. Following a starring role at the 2014 Retromobile, it was shown at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in the preservation class. During a subsequent inspection, the car was found to have many competition features including large-diameter valves, a high compression head and high volume Weber carburettors. The car was then sold at auction and comprehensively restored by Fast Cars ltd. for the new owner. The work was completed in time for the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where it was awarded first in class.
