Chassis:
Fitted with a competition roadster body by O. Lecanu-Deschamps, this 135 S was sold new to Rene le Begue. He raced the car extensively, competing in 12 events in its first season. Le Begue impressed with a second-place finish and class victory in the 1936 Spa 24 Hours. His efforts were recognised by Talbot Lago, who offered him a works drive. The Delahaye was sold to Count Pierre Merlin, who continued to race the car through to the end of the 1937 season. The Delahaye was subsequently used as a road car and in 1948, it was fitted with a Cabriolet body by Jules Grignard with a design inspired by Joseph Figoni's finest creations. Following a four-decade ownership by Charles Sadoyan, it was acquired by the current owner in 2004. He had it restored to its 1937 configuration by Carrosserie Francois Cointreau. The rare 135 S has now been consigned to RM Auctions for their inaugural February 5th Paris sale. The pre-sale estimate is EUR 1 - 1.5 million.
