Chassis: 2529 Featured above is Juan Manuel Fangio's 1957 Nürburgring Grand Prix winning Maserati 250F Lightweight with the serial number 2529. It was the third of three Lightweight cars constructed late in 1956 for the upcoming season. There were two more T2 chassis built but these were fitted with a V12 engine. Fangio also drove the Nürburgring winning machine to victory in the French Grand Prix at Rouen. Maserati withdrew from racing at the end of the year and '2529' was sold to Giorgio Scarlatti and later Joakim Bonnier who raced it with little success for several seasons. Since its retirement from racing '2529' has been preserved and is generally considered to be the most original of all surviving 250Fs. That, combined with its Nürburgring win makes it the most important Maserati racing car in existence today. In 2008 Swiss car dealer Lukas Huni had the privilege of showing the priceless machine at Retromobile and driving it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
