Chassis:
One of the 908 prototypes, chassis 001 was fitted with a short tail body. This was a clear development of the 907K raced early in 1968. Subjected to extensive tests, this 908 was eventually retired after a heavy crash before it was ever raced. The remains were sold to one of Porsche's official test drivers. He eventually had the car reconstructed, which required extensive work as the accident and corrosion had left their marks on the steel tubular chassis. Following the reconstruction, it has been tested an was issued full FIA papers.
