The first of four Lancia LC1s built, this was the sole car used at the type's debut at Monza. It qualified on pole but sadly failed to reach the finish due to a distributor failure. There were no such issues at Silverstone, where it won the race outright in the hands of Michele Alboreto and Riccardo Patrese. The latter then crashed the car during practice at the Nürburgring. It re-appeared in 1983 as one of the two Sivama Group C cars, which were not particularly successful. At the end of the season, it was returned to Lancia and restored to its original guise. It was later sold to Peter Kaus and displayed for many years in the Rosso Bianco Museum. In more recent years, it joined the Louwman Collection and has since been a set fixture in the Louwman Museum.
