Chassis:
Built new for the 1978 season, this M26 debuted at the Argentinian Grand Prix in the hands of James Hunt. He placed the car fourth after starting seventh on the grid. Hunt would go on to race chassis M26-4 on six more occasions but managed to reach the finish only once. Its final outing was at the Belgian Grand Prix in Zolder where an accident cut the race short for Hunt. Coincidentally, the fourth M26 is now in Belgian ownership and regularly campaigned in historic events.
