Chassis:
The fifth McLaren M26 constructed, this chassis was predominantly used by Patrick Tambay from the March 1978 South African Grand Prix. He did relatively well to finish fourth at Anderstorp and sixth in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. During the second half the year, Hunt tried his luck in chassis M26-5 but he could do no better than a seventh in the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. Tambay raced the car once more early in the 1979 season at Interlagos. The current owner, a historic racer of note, used this M26 to win his group during the 2010 Monaco Historic Grand Prix.
