Chassis:
Sold new as a rolling chassis to the Alfa Romeo dealer in Lugano, Switzerland, this 1900C SS was entrusted to local coach-builder Ghia-Aigle. Here it was fitted with a Cabriolet body designed by Giovanni Michelotti. It was first seen at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show and soon after sold to a Swiss enthusiast. The car remained in the country for several more decades and during the 1980s was shown at Claude Frésard's Musee de l'Automobile. Among its subsequent owners were noted American collector Gene Ponder, who went on to sell his entire collection at auction in 2007. The current owner acquired the car in complete but well used condition. He has since had the Geneva show car completely restored and brought it to Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este.
