Chassis:
Completed late in 1951 this Le Mans Replica was shown at that year's Earl's Court Motor Show. It was then acquired by John Melvin, who finished second at Turnberry and third at Charterhall. Sharing with Peter Kenneth, Melvin then placed 9th on the Isle of Mann and 13th in the 1953 Goodwood 9 Hours. It was soon after acquired by Stuart Henry Sharpe, who retained it until his death in 1995. As a result, this is one of the most original Le Mans Replicas in existence. In 1996, it was offered from his estate by Christie's, finding a new owner for £128,000; more than twice the low estimate. Having changed hands several times since, chassis 159 has now joined the collection of a London-based Canadian historic racer.
