Chassis:
Also referred to JPS20 in reference to Team Lotus title sponsor John Player Special, this is the second Type 79 built. It debuted in the hands of Mario Andretti, who grabbed victory with this car in the Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder. It was then allocated to Ronnie Peterson for the remainder of its 1978 appearances. He finished on the podium five times, with seconds at Jarama, Anderstorp and Zandvoort, and a victory at the Ostereichring. In 1979, it was mainly raced by Carlos Reutemann, who finished second on three Grands Prix but no further victories were scored by 79/2. Retained by Lotus, this car was eventually restored to full running by Classic Team Lotus in 2009. Among the recent appearances was an outing at the Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort in 2014 along with a sister car to celebrate the one-two Team Lotus victory scored by Andretti and Peterson nearly 40 years earlier.
