Chassis:
One of the third series Type 15s built, chassis 623 was extensively raced for Team Lotus by Graham Hill during the 1959 season. He won several races in this car, including the British Grand Prix support race for sports cars. It was also raced by Hill and Alan Stacey in the 1959 Goodwood TT but reliability issues caused an early retirement. Chassis 623 was soon after sold to Australian Frank Matich, who continued to race the ex-works Type 15 extensively. Following its retirement from contemporary racing, it eventually returned to Europe where it was campaigned extensively by Jac Nelleman and more recently by Roger Wills. In the ownership of the latter, it scored wins in prestigious events like the Le Mans Classic and Goodwood Revival. After acquiring the car from Wills, the current owner first raced the Type 15 during the 2014 Goodwood Revival.
