Chassis:
The third and final 87C built ahead of the 1987 season. Chassis 003 was also the most successful. Driven by by Jones and/or Lees throughout the season, it was the car that won the 1000 km races at Fuji and Suzuka outright. At Le Mans, it was shared by Jones, Lees and Swedish racer Eje Elgh. Jones was the only one to drive in the race as it ran out of fuel in the very first stint. In 1988, it was briefly raced in STP colours by Auto Beaurex Motorsport in Japan but with limited success. One of only very few Toyota Group C cars in private hands, chassis 003 is currently owned by a Swedish collector and historic racer. It has recently been restored to full running order by Phil Stott Motorsport.
