Chassis:
One of two new cars built ahead of the 1980 season, this 179 was allocated to Bruno Giacomelli. He debuted with a fifth place finish in the Argentinean Grand Prix, which must have gotten the hopes up in Milan. Unfortunately, this was the only point-scoring finish for chassis 004 all year. At the end of the season, it was used by Andrea de Cesaris in his Grand Prix debut. In 1981, it was only used once, by Mario Andretti in the French Grand Prix where he placed eighth. Following its contemporary racing career, it eventually returned to action in historic racing in the United States. Early in 2014, it was acquired by the current owner at auction and has since been used in the FIA Masters Formula 1 Championship.
