Chassis:
The third of four Lotus 56s built for STP, this turbine-engined machine was entrusted to 1966 Indy 500 winner Graham Hill. He set a new qualifying record but was forced to retire from the race after a small crash at the halfway mark. Not raced again, it was displayed for many years at STP's headquarters before it was acquired American racing legend Richard Petty in 1996. He sold the car to the current owner in 2012. Chassis 56/3 was subjected to a complete restoration by Classic Team Lotus with the help of Vince Granatelli, the son of Andy Granatelli. The work was completed in time for the 2014 Indy 500 where three of the four Lotus 56s were demonstrated ahead of the race.
