Chassis:
Completed in 1937, this Phantom III was commissioned by Polish general Wladyslaw Sikorski, who would later become the Polish prime minister in exile after the Germans had invaded the country. Chassis 3CM81 was clothed by French specialists Vanvooren with a particularly elegant Cabriolet body. Its sporty lines are accentuated by the low windshield, the belt-line moulding that has the effect of visually extending the tail and the covered rear seats. Sikorski took delivery of the car in Warsaw but later fled the country with the Rolls-Royce following the German invasion. He just the car in Scotland while in exile.
With close to 16,000 miles on the odometer, it was traded in at London dealer Jack Barclay in 1944. It was later owned by Alfred Beaumont for nearly two decades and has always been cherished by its subsequent owners. Today part of a noted British collection, this Phantom III has been completely restored to its original configuration by experts P&A Wood. The work was certainly appreciated as the car was awarded best in class at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it was also one of the nominees for the prestigious Best of Show award.
