Jean Behra debuted this works racer at the Bari Grand Prix with an outright victory. Later in 1955, it also won the Trieste-Opicina hill climb and placed fifth overall in the Tourist Trophy at Dundrod. Modified with the long nose, it continued to race as a works car for another season. Together with Louis Rosier, Behra also added the Paris 1000 km at Monthléry to its tally. At the end of the year, the car was shipped to Australia where it was raced by Behra before being sold to local Dough Whiteford. He very successfully raced chassis 3055 throughout the country even after selling it on to brothers Bill and Jim Leech. During the 1980s, it was bought from Australia by American Steve Forristall. Completely restored during the early 1990s, it was later owned by Dudley and Sally Mason-Styrron before being acquired by the current owner in 2003.
