Finishing third, this works 908/02 Spyder debuted at the 1969 Targa Florio in the hands of Rolf Stommelen and Hans Herrmann. Later in the year, it was entered at Watkins Glen, where it finished second in the World Sports Car Race on Saturday and then finished ninth a day later in the Can-Am round driven by Tony Dean. The talented Englishman would go on to race this 908/02 Spyder in a variety of events, including several more Can-Am rounds. In 1970 he actually won a Can-Am race in a sister car. In 1972, it completed another double header at Watkins Glen, finishing fourth and ninth respectively.
