Following his successful attempt to break the Land Speed Record at Pendine Sands in the summer of 1924, Malcolm Campbell offered the unique Sunbeam 350hp for sale for £1,500. As he did not find a buyer immediately, he used it again in 1925 to become the first man to become the first man to break the 150 mph barrier. It eventually did change hands and continued to be raced in minor events until the mid-1930s. It was acquired by Lord Montagu in 1958 and has since been on display at his Beaulieu estate in what is now known as the National Motor Museum. The car was fully restored and in running order until the unique V12 was severely damaged in the early 1990s. Two decades later, the engine was finally rebuilt, preserving as much of the original castings as possible. In January of 2014, the Sunbeam fired up for the first time in 20 years.
