Chassis:
Chassis BHL 103 was the third Knobbly Lister built and, fitted with a Jaguar engine, it was sold new to Peter Whitehead. It was soon after after acquired by Derek Wilkinson, who entered the car in national events for John Bekaert. Wilkinson also used the car on the road to get to and from the race meets. Following a hefty crash at Aintree, the car was returned to Lister for repairs. Even though the chassis was certainly not damaged beyond repair, Wilkinson, a real perfectionist, decided to have the frame replaced despite the considerable premium. It is believed that Lister used the last frame built in period for the repairs. Following fruitless and very fiery attempts to weld new sections into the magnesium body, it was decided to rivet the new sections, which has earned the car the nickname 'Old Patchy'. At one point in its life, chassis BHL 103 was fitted with a big-block Ford V8. It has since been restored to its original configuration but still retains the riveted bodywork that earned the car its nickname.
