Chassis:
The second of the six Tipo 60 Birdcages built, this example was sold new to Italian gentleman racer Odoardo Govoni. He extensively and very successfully campaigned the car in hill climbs, scoring numerous victories. Between 1960 and 1963, he was crowned Italian hill climb championship twice. In 1963, chassis 2460 was acquired by Govoni's compatriot Leandro Terra. He briefly raced the car before it was sold again and then again in 1966 to a Rome-based enthusiast, who would go on to retain the car until the early 2000s. When it re-emerged in 2001, it was in remarkably original condition. Understandably, it attracted a lot of attention when it was consigned to the Christie's London Sale in March of 2001. It exceeded the top estimate when it sold for just over GBP 1.4 million.
