Chassis:
This Maserati Tipo 60 Birdcage was sold new to Count Volpi Misurata for his Scuderia Serenissima. Completed in the summer of 1960, it was fielded with considerable success in hill climb events for the likes of Giorgio Scarlatti and Carlo Abate during the remainder of the season. The 1961 season kicked off with an unsuccessful outing in the Targa Florio for Mennato Boffa and Nino Todaro. The latter continued to race the car with more success in hill climbs. It then changed hands several times in Italy, until it was ultimately acquired by Pink Floyd drummer and noted collector Nick Mason. He retained the car through the mid-2010s when it was bought by a Spanish historic racer.
