Chassis:
The third of four Lotus 98Ts produced for the 1986 season, this car was raced exclusively by Ayrton Senna. He scored both of his victories that year, in Spain and the United States, with this chassis and also placed it on pole five times and scored three additional podium finishes. Following an accident in practice, it was set aside. Now fully repaired and restored to full running order, it is arguably the most successful Ayrton Senna Formula 1 car in private ownership. Following spells in prominent private collections, it was acquired by a longterm custodian in 2016. In 2026, it was consigned to RM Sotheby’s for a ‘Sealed’ auction with a $9.5 - $12 million estimate.
