Chassis:
One of the very last 250 GT Californias produced, this open headlight example was sold new to Italian Marquis Medici de Vascelo from Turin. It was painted silver-grey and came equipped with a silver hard-top. By the early 1970s, it was sold to the United States and in 1972 it was acquired by Ken Thomas, who was a Mercedes-Benz mechanic during the day. At the time, the car was in a rather derelict condition and Thomas set about restoring 4121GT to its former glory. He finished the car in dark metallic red but retained the silver colour on the hard-top. Having shown the car at various major events between 1984 and 2002, Thomas eventually sold the car in 2003. Among the subsequent owners was Swiss collector, Jean-Pierre Slavic, who had the car repainted in its original colours.
