Chassis:
The most understated of the Type 101s produced, this Guilloré bodied car still featured separate front and rear fenders. Reportedly, the body had actually been originally been destined for a Delahaye but fitted to the Bugatti chassis instead. Among the first owners of the car was a Mr Rudolfo Brignore, who lived in Tunis, while it later also passed through the hands of Bugatti collector Jean de Dobbeleer. In 1975, it joined the stable of Dutch collector Pim Hascher. He rarely showed his cars, and the Bugatti did not really break into the limelight until it was offered by Bonhams at their 2008 Retromobile sale. Here it was acquired by a French enthusiast, who brought the one-off Type 101 to Villa d'Este the following year.
