Chassis:
Completed in 1972 as a regular production Daytona, this car was delivered to Giovanni Michelotti in 1974 by new owner Daniel Ward and Luigi Chinetti. Michelotti re-bodied the car with a unique, all-aluminium Spyder and it was also upgraded to full Group 4 specification. Once the work was completed, the one-off Daytona was shown at the 1975 Geneva Motor Show. It was subsequently entered under the NART banner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Jean Pierre Malcher and Patrick Langlois. Unfortunately, it did not race as Chinetti withdrew all NART cars due to a conflict with the organisation. Under new ownership, an entry was filed for the 1978 Daytona 24 Hours but the car never appeared. Later in the year, it was converted to a slightly more docile specification for road use. The car remained in the United States until 2001, when it was acquired by Jean Guikas. He had the car converted back to competition specification but it was not repainted into its original and very striking colours until after it passed into the current ownership.
