Chassis:
Paul Née of Levallois, France was a talented coach-builder, who usually worked with designs of others. In the case of this Bugatti Type 57, the lines of the Pillarless Coupe were penned by Fernandez & Darrin. The car was conceived for Parisian entrepreneur Paul Worth of the perfume fame. It featured several unique cues like the chrome accents and a large sunroof. Worth took delivery of the car in 1936 and retained it until after the War. Chassis 57397 remained in France until the mid-1950s but then followed many of its contemporaries to the United States. From 1965 through to 2009, it was owned by John La Barbara, who regularly showed the car at events through the country. The current custodian acquired the car at auction in 2009 for less than $400,000.
