Sold new to the French part of Switzerland, this RSR was originally raced by the local Porsche Club Romand. Piloted by several Swiss drivers, it was campaigned all around Europe in 1973 including at the Targa Florio, at Le Mans and in the Tour de France. Ahead of the 1974 season, it was updated to RSR 3.0 specifications and its racing career continued for many more years. Later in its life, it was also campaigned as a detuned RS 3.0 and in SC specification for rallying. In the final guise, the car won the 1980 European Rally Championship in the hands of Antonio Zanini. Following its retirement from contemporary racing, it was eventually restored back to its original guise.
