Chassis:
The second mid-engined Maserati 'Birdcage' built, chassis 63.004 was sold new to Scuderia Serenissima. Fitted with a fin, it was first seen in action at the official Le Mans test but it did not actually compete in the race. Raced throughout the 1961, its best result was a fifth overall in the Targa Florio. The car was eventually sold to Austrian enthusiast Egon Hofer, who had it restored to its original specifications. Following a spell in the hands of a German historic racer, it was acquired by a great German Maserati enthusiast. He shares the passion with his brother, who has also added Tipo 63 Birdcage to his stable. They raced the two cars together at the 2019 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or.
