Chassis:
Delivered new to South Africans Mike and Paddy O'Sullivan this is the original Group 2 Rover SD1 built by David Price Racing. The two brothers fielded the car four times in the Kyalami 1000 km race between 1981 and 1984, where it raced against a wide variety of machinery including Group C racers. The O'Sullivans retained the car until 1986 and later also bought it back. In more recent years, it has changed hands several times before it was bought by the current, British owner in 2014. He has had it meticulously restored to its original, 1981 specification and livery. At its three outings in the Heritage Touring Car so far, it has started on the front row each time. Unfortunately, the production-specification five-speed gearbox has proven very fragile.
