Chassis:
Ready in September of 1957, the second and final DBR2 made a victorious debut at the Silverstone International with Roy Salvadori at the wheel. It was then raced in the Nassau Speed Weeks with two fourth place finishes for Stirling Moss and a second for Ruth Levy in the Ladies Race. Back in Europe, it finished second three times early in 1958 but another victory eluded the second DBR2. It was then loaned to American Bob Oker, who won outright at Riverside. Its North American tour ended at the end of the 1959 season when Moss scored two wins in the Nassau Speed Weeks. Chassis DBR2/2 was then returned to the factory and early in 1960 it was sold on to Jim Diggory. He campaigned the car in minor events before finally retiring the big Aston from contemporary racing in 1963. Among the subsequent owners was former Aston Martin chairman Victor Gauntlett, who bought the car at auction in 1990 for a startling GBP 1.75 million. In more recent years, it has joined a fabulous American collection and is regularly raced in historic events.
