Chassis:
The second and final 412 P built, this example was campaigned during the 1967 season by Maranello Concessionaires. Finished in red with the British team's striking blue stripe, it was raced at Spa, Le Mans, Brands Hatch and Montlhery. The best result was a third at Spa-Francorchamps in the hands of Lucien Bianchi and Richard Attwood. At the end of the year, it was acquired by David Piper, who had already raced the car for Maranello Concessionaires. Piper continued to race chassis 0854, sometimes joined by Jo Siffert and Attwood, well into the 1969 season.
The second Ferrari 412 P was then sold to American Chris Cord, who converted the car for use on the street. Among the subsequent owners were noted collectors Anthony Bamford, Paul E. Vestey, John McCaw and Bruce McCaw. In 2005, it was acquired by American collector James Glickenhaus, who already owned the reconstructed 330 P3/4 and also commissioned the P4/5 by Pininfarina, which was clearly inspired by the 1960s Ferrari sports racers. Amidst Glickenhaus' other projects, chassis 0854 was meticulously restored by his mechanic Sal Barrone to its 1967 configuration. Still retaining its original chassis, body, engine and gearbox, it was first shown following its restoration at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering in 2015.
In 2023, the rare Ferrari 412 P was consigned to the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction.
