Chassis:
Raced by Jacques Laffite during the middle of the 1981 season, this JS17 finished third in German and British Grands Prix, second in Spain and won the Austrian Grand Prix. Retained by Matra, it eventually passed to Laffite in 1987. He owned the car through to 2004 when it was acquired by a England-based Brazilian collector with a passion for Matras. It has since been prepared for historic racing and in 2015 was raced with great verve by Rob Hall at select events.
