Chassis:
One of the very last Bugatti Type 57s built, this example was equipped with a supercharged engine and bought new by Fernand Chaussivert. He turned out to be a particularly demanding customer as he commissioned coach-builder Vanvooren to construct two bodies, for him to choose his favourite. Chaussivert picked this coupe coach-work, which was clearly inspired by the standard, Atalante style design. In 1955, this striking machine was acquired by Raymond Delmonte. He retained the car for many decades and it did not resurface during the mid-2000s. Still in remarkably original condition, it was eventually acquired by traders Jaap Braam Ruben and Bruno Vendiesse. It was briefly owned by Peter Mullin and has more recently joined another prominent American collection.
