Chassis:
For the 1956 GP Rouen, Aston Martin built two new works cars with faired-in headlights and disc brakes. This is the second of these and was entered for Roy Salvadori. Starting ninth, he finished fifth overall. For Le Mans, Salvadori was joined by Peter Walker, who sadly crashed out of the race. Ahead of the 1957 season, it was equipped with double wishbones and coil springs at the front. Following a pair of outings that year, it was sold on to privateer John Dalton. He campaigned the car extensively and with considerable success at minor events throughout the 1958 and 1959 seasons. After its contemporary racing career, it has been regularly used in historic events by its successive owners, which included former Aston Martin chairman Peter Livanos. Its most recent custodian is a prominent Hong Kong based collector.
