Chassis:
Run by Team Schnitzer, the BMW works effort had four F1 GTRs available during the 1997 season. Chassis 23R was allocated to Peter Kox and Roberto Ravaglia. They failed to finish the FIA GT season opener at Hockenheim but bounced back at Silverstone with a victory. During the remainder of the season, the Dutch/Italian pairing finished on the podium just once more, placing second at the Sebring round. At the end of the season, the Longtail F1 GTR was retired but retained by BMW. It was eventually acquired by Canadian collector Lawrence Stroll. It changed hands again in the early 2020s and was demonstrated at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed by former BMW works driver Steve Soper.
