Chassis: 25R
One of the Longtail F1 GTRs delivered to the British GTC Competition team, this chassis was raced primarily by Ray Bellm, who was joined by a variety of professionals. In the FIA GT Championship, the Gulf-Davidoff liveried machine finished fourth twice before heading to Le Mans where it was driven by Bellm, Andrew Gilbert-Scott and 1995 winner Massanori Sekiya. Unfortunately, an overheating issue caused a fire that not only ruled the car out from the race but from the remainder of the season. Chassis 25R was returned to the factory for a comprehensive rebuild. It was finished in white primer and offered for sale. The subsequent owner was the Japanese Hitotsuyama Racing team, which campaigned the car in the Japanese championship from 1999 through to 2005. As such, it is the very last McLaren F1 GTR to race in a contemporary event. Following its Japanese racing car, it was sold to a collector. In 2016, it was checked by McLaren Heritage and given a clean bill of health. Shortly thereafter, it was sold by specialist trader Kidston SA on behalf of the third owner. It was subsequently entrusted to McLaren Special Operations where it was completely restored to its original configuration during an 18-month period. Upon completion of the restoration in the summer of 2018, it became the first officially certified McLaren F1.
