Chassis:
One of the very last F1 GTRs produced, this was one of the BMW Motorsport entries for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1997. Following a run in the official test, the car made its competitive debut in the legendary endurance race and promptly placed third overall with Roberto Ravaglia, Eric Hélary and Peter Kox behind the wheel. Following its successful Le Mans outing, it was shared by Steve Soper and J.J. Lehto in the remainder of the FIA GT Championship. The talented pairing managed to score outright wins at Spa and Mugello. The car also served as a development machine for ABS brakes and it still has the system fitted today. Retired to the BMW Museum, it makes rare public appearances. Among them were the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where 26R was reunited with Steve Soper.
