Chassis:
To give the authorities the impression that the homologation requirements were already met, the very first DB4 GT Zagato actually received the highest number allotted to the model; 0200/R. Fitted with unique chrome strips that curve around the vents in the front wings and run down the doors, it was shown at the 1960 Earl's Court Motor Show. It was then entrusted to Rob Walker, who entered the car for Stirling Moss in the April, 1961 Fordwater Trophy at Goodwood. He finished third behind a Ferrari 250 GT SWB and a regular DB4 GT. The following season, the first DB4 GT Zagato passed to Mike Salmon. He raced the car extensively, including at Le Mans, where he partnered with Ian Baillie. Sadly, piston failure in the ninth hour brought their charge to an early end. Chassis 0200/R was then raced in local events through to the summer of 1964. Meticulously restored and boasting the number 91 used by Stirling Moss on Easter Monday, 1961, it has more recently been raced at select historic events.
