Built new for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this works racer was entered for Rolf Stommelen and Jochen Neerpasch. They qualified second and eventually finished the race third overall and second in class behind a Porsche 907. Later in the year Herbert Linge and Robert Buchet raced the car at Montlhéry where they finished a delayed 12th. Subtly updated, it was pulled from retirement for Le Mans in 1972. Chassis 908-013 car was loaned to Jo Siffert, who fielded it for Reinhold Joest, Michel Weber and Mario Casoni. They finished an impressive third overall. Still boasting the 1972 body configuration and livery, it has been on loan from Porsche to the Musée National de l'Automobile for many years.
