The first of two M19Cs built, chassis M19C-1 was used by Denny Hulme from April 1972 into 1973. The 'Bear' finished on the podium a total of six times but the Australian could not claim victory in this car. After serving Hulme for a full year, it was used by Jody Scheckter for two races. It was retired after an accident and retained by McLaren. Still owned by McLaren, it is seen here at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed where it was driven up the hill by Jackie Oliver.
