Chassis:
Delivered new through US distributor Mitropa Motors, this early Spezial Roadster is believed to have been originally owned by Reginald Sinclaire. An heir to a wealthy industrialist, Sinclaire had a taste for fine automobiles as over the years he also owned an another 540 K and a Duesenberg SJ, and after the War, his collection included a Gullwing 300 SL and Aston Martin DB4. He eventually sold the Spezial Roadster during the mid-1950s and it appeared in a special exhibition about the 'Horseless Carriage Days' at the Denver Art Museum in 1957. Some years later, it was acquired by noted collector E.W. Price, who already owned a pair of Duesenbergs, an Auburn and a Cord at the time. It has subsequently been owned by noted collectors and was restored by Mike Fennell during the second half of the 1980s. It was then acquired by the current, longterm owner in 1989. Still retaining all of its major, original components, chassis 130894 has a mileage, which is believed to be from new, of just 10,277 miles.
