Chassis:
Acquired new by the Japanese Alpha Racing team, this 962C was completed early in 1990. It debuted shortly thereafter in the Fuji 500 km where it was driven by Tiff Needell and Costas Los. After two more outings in Japan, it was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Needell, David Sears and Anthony Reid. The beautifully prepared 962C had a superb race and eventually finished third overall, beaten only by a pair of works Jaguars. The car was then shipped back to Japan where Needell raced it in the Japanese Sports Car Championship, sharing with Derek Bell and Anthony Reid. Following its contemporary racing career, it was acquired by American collector Bruce Canepa. He eventually sold to a French historic racer, who campaigned the car at select events during the the 2010s. In 2019, the engine received a rebuild from XTec Engineering and while in French ownership, it has always been meticulously maintained by specialists Equipe Europe. In 2023, it was consigned along with several other competition cars from the same collection, to the Artcurial Le Mans Classic sale.
