Chassis:
Built in March of 1959, this 718 RSK was sold new to American racer Harry Blanchard, who had successfully raced an earlier 550A the previous year. He campaigned the car extensively, at times sharing driving duties with a young Roger Penske. Driving alone, Penske scored his first victory at Lime Rock Park in July of 1959. Following Blanchard's death at the wheel of another Porsche early in 1960, ownership of this Porsche passed to Penske. He continued to race the car in SCCA national events, scoring numerous class and outright victories. In 1963, Penske sold the car on and it has remained in American hands ever since. Among the subsequent owners were noted collectors Tom Trabue and Otis Chandler and more recently, the car joined the fabulous Porsche collection of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Beautifully restored, it has now been consigned to the Gooding Amelia Island sale with a selection of other Porsches from Seinfeld's collection.
