Through the Boston, Massachusetts Stutz agency, this Series K Bearcat was acquired new by a high ranking Army officer in the Medical Corps. He brought the car with him when he was relocated to Maryland, and then to Georgia in 1931. It remained there until it was discovered in the early 2010s by American enthusiast Wayne Carini. The car dealer and restorer is best known for his popular television show 'Chasing Classic Cars.' He found the car on the estate of the original owner, with just 10,000 miles on the odometer, and ranks it as his greatest discovery. The car was complete but did need work to get running again and this was entrusted to Stutz aficionado Evan Ide. The work was done in time for the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Attracting a lot of attention, it was awarded as the most significant preserved pre-War car by the FIVA. The discovery of the car was also documented in a particularly popular episode of Chasing Classic Cars, and the journey to Pebble Beach in a one-hour, season opening special. A year after starring at Pebble Beach, the fabulous Bearcat will cross the block at the upcoming Bonhams Quail Lodge auction.
