Chassis:
Using a third series chassis, this 8C 2300 was built to full Monza specification with a Brianza body. It was sold new to Cesare Sanguinetti, a gentleman racer from the Genova area. Although it changed hands several times during the 1930s, it always remained in the same region of Italy. Each owner also campaigned the car extensively in local events into the 1950s. Following a brief spell in Venezuela, it moved to the United States in 1952 for the princely sum of $1,800. Thirty years later, it was acquired by great Alfa Romeo enthusiast Peter Giddings. He had the Monza completely restored by San Francisco Bay Area specialists, which included Phil Reilly, David Love, David McCarthy and Jack Hagemann. The work was completed in 1985 and it was subsequently used with considerable success in historic races and tours. Just over a decade, it passed to Tom Hollfelder, who continued to campaign the car. It most recently changed hands in 2010.
