Chassis:
Clothed at Sindelfingen with the Cabriolet A style bodywork, this 540 K was sold new to Greek shipping tycoon Nicholas Embericos and registered for the first time in London, England. Embericos, the cousin of noted enthusiast André Embericos, sold the car on in 1940 but it remained in the United Kingdom. At some point in the 1940s, it was finished in white with a pigskin interior and patent leather roof. By the 1980s, chassis 154083 had moved to the United States. Here it was acquired by Don Williams of the Blackhawk Collection fame. He had the car comprehensively restored. Virtually unused since the restoration, it was offered in the 2016 Bonhams Amelia Island sale. The new custodian showed the lovely Cabriolet A at the subsequent Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
