Chassis:
Chassis 07 was built up by BMW Motorsport for Hohmann Auto Technik (HAT). They fielded the car in the Division 2 or under two-litre class of the German DRM series. Among the drivers was none other than Ronnie Peterson but ultimately no victories were scored during the 1977 season. For the 1978 season, it was sold to privateer racer Helmut Bross. The car continued to be prepared by the HAT team for Bross and several other drivers. The following year, it was sold to Tom Walkinshaw in the United Kingdom and then on to Terry Tyzack. He raced the car primarily in hill-climbs into the 1980s. The final contemporary appearances came in the hands of fellow Brit Brian Chatfield. The car remained in the UK until 2006, when it was acquired as a rolling chassis by an Australian BMW enthusiast. Over a five year period, it was carefully restored to its original, 1977 configuration. In December of 2016, it turned a wheel under its own power for the first time in several decades. Having been raced regularly in Australia, it was brought over to Europe for the 2023 Le Mans Classic.
