Chassis: R4
Chassis R4 is believed to have been constructed around the remains of R1 after John Miles' violent crash during the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. As R4, this Lotus 72 was first raced by Graham Hill at the Oulton Park Gold Cup. He finished a lowly 18th. The two-time World champion raced the car four more times but never reached the finish. At the end of the year, it was retired from contemporary racing and has been beautifully preserved ever since. For many years, it was part of an Austrian collection dedicated to Jochen Rindt.
