Chassis:
Completed early in 1958, this Lotus 15 was sold new to Jaguar dealer John Coombs. Up to that point Coombs had raced his cars himself but he had giving up driving to focus on his business commitments but remained actively involved in the sport as an entrant. This Lotus was first raced for Coombs by Roy Salvadori at the Daily Express meeting at Silverstone. Later that year, it was also raced by the likes of Bruce McLaren and Ron Flockhart. The best result in Coombs' owner ship was as victory in the sports car race at Oulton Park in September of 1958 where Salvadori beat a pair of Jaguar-engined Listers.
At the end of the 1958 season, chassis 609 was sold and it eventually moved to Australia where it continued to be raced in contemporary events and later also appeared in historic races. In more recent years, it was brought back to the United Kingdom by the current custodian. Its first appearance back in England came at the 2015 Goodwood Revival where it formed part of the Bruce McLaren tribute parade. It has since been comprehensively restored and prepared for historic racing. Although not painted yet, it was ready to race for the 2016 Goodwood Revival. Since then, it has been campaigned with considerable success both at Goodwood and at the Le Mans Classic.
